Privacy Policy
Effective 15 October 2026
In short: HomePing doesn't collect your data. There's no HomePing account, no HomePing server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What you add stays on your devices and, if you use iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud, which the developer can't access.
Who is responsible
HomePing is developed by Nikolaos Varouchas. If you have a question about privacy, email [email protected].
What HomePing stores
Only what you enter: your home's name and type, rooms, appliances and their details (brand, model, serial number, purchase and warranty dates, prices), maintenance tasks, checklists, notes, estimated and actual costs, your history of completed jobs, and the photos and documents you choose to add. Settings such as your reminder time, hemisphere and appearance are stored on the device.
The developer never receives any of this.
iCloud sync
Sync with iCloud is on by default and can be turned off in HomePing's Settings. When it's on, your HomePing data is stored in your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit, so it's the same on your devices signed in to the same Apple Account. It counts towards your iCloud storage.
- Only you can access your private iCloud database. The developer can't read it.
- Apple encrypts it in transit and at rest. With Advanced Data Protection turned on, it's end-to-end encrypted.
- iCloud is provided by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- With sync off, everything stays on that device only.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone by iOS. Nothing is sent over the internet to deliver them. HomePing asks for notification permission only after explaining why, and works fully without it.
Photos and documents
When you add a photo, iOS's photo picker shares only the photos you select; HomePing can't see the rest of your library and doesn't ask for library access. Photos are resized and re-saved, which removes location information embedded in them. Documents are chosen through the Files picker.
Purchases
HomePing doesn't sell anything in the app at the moment. If in-app purchases are added in a future version, they'll be processed entirely by Apple, HomePing will never see your payment details, and this policy will be updated first.
What HomePing doesn't do
- No account or sign-in.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising services, and no third-party code.
- No tracking and no advertising identifier.
- No access to your location, contacts or home address.
- No selling or sharing of data, because none is collected.
Your control over your data
- Export: Settings → Export my data creates a JSON file of your home, rooms, appliances, tasks and history (photos excluded).
- Delete from this iPhone only: Settings → Delete all data → Delete from this iPhone only removes the data on that device and turns sync off there. Your iCloud copy and other devices keep it.
- Delete everywhere: Settings → Delete all data → Delete everywhere removes it from iCloud and all your devices.
- Deleting the app removes its data from that device. Data in iCloud can also be removed in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → HomePing.
Children
HomePing isn't directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Any change that affects what data is collected would be explained in the app first.
